Obituary

LaVerna (Brandner) Vossler age 88 of Wishek, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND. Visitation will be held on one hour prior to funeral services. Burial will be held at the St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek.

LaVerna, a wife, mom, grandma and great grandma was born September 9, 1935, to Reinhold and Anna (Sprenger) Brandner.  She grew up on a farm near Zeeland ND, where she attended Strasburg District farm school.

LaVerna met Wilbert Vossler and they were united in marriage on September 9, 1958 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zeeland, ND.  Wilbert and LaVerna farmed southwest of Wishek where she helped her husband on the farm with milking cows, planting and harvesting crops and hay, gardening/canning, keeping the lawn mowed and fence painted until 2000, when they moved to Wishek.

She enjoyed embroidering, painting, playing cards, singing in the German choir, quilting in the St. Luke's quilting for missions, completing jigsaw, Search-a-Word and crossword puzzles; and, in her younger days, camping and snowmobiling.

She was a current member of St.  Luke's Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years.

LaVerna is survived by four children Brenda (Eugene) Nolz, Peggy (Tim) Scherr; Charlene Vossler; and Sheila Vossler.  Seven grandchildren Jessi (Kasia) Scherr, Sarah Scherr, Nicole (Chris) Weigel, Rachel Nolz, Andrew (fiancée KaLee) Nolz, Dani (Maggie) DeVossier, Alex (Jenni) Urbina and, five great grandchildren, Jazlyn, Mason, Brandi, Jasmine, Keira; brother Milton Brandner, sister-in-law Loretta Vossler and brother-in-law Wesley Vossler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbert, sisters Bernice Brandner, Alice (Elmer) Woehlhoff, and brother Darvin Brandner. and many brothers and sisters in law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek.
