The memorial service for Larry Dale King, rural Merricourt/Edgeley, ND, will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Kulm, ND.
Larry Dale King, son of Luther and Sarah (Young) King was born March 19, 1937 in Ellendale, ND. He attended a one room country school near Merricourt. Larry lived on the family farm all his life and started raising cattle when he was 12 years old; and he always rode horse to check the cattle. Ironically, the cattle left the farm the day before he died. On July 31, 1960, Larry married Janice Michaelis, in Ellendale, ND. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baseball. He played Legion and Amateur baseball for Edgeley and later played Amateur baseball for Kulm. Larry served seven and half years with the North Dakota National Guard. Larry was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kulm, where he served in various positions. He was a director on the Farmers Union/Cenex board for twenty-seven years, he served on the Dickey County ASCS Board for several years, and he served one term on the Kulm Credit Union board.
Larry died March 14, 2018 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND after a long battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janice, Kulm, ND; one daughter, Kelly (Wayne) Olson, Mandan, ND; two sons, Todd (Marcia) King, Linton, ND; and Wade King, McKenzie, ND; and four grandchildren, Jenna (Jerrold) Zettel, Erika Olson, Ashlyn King, and Trace King. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Violet Doss, Mabel Washburn, and Shirley Podenski; two brothers, Ross King, and Lee King; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
