Larry Todd Boschee "Looch", 68, of Zeeland, ND, passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2022, at his home in Zeeland. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Zeeland, ND. Following the graveside service there will be a celebration of life reception at the Zeeland City Hall.

Larry was born on January 5, 1954, to Thomas and Idella (Ochsner) Boschee the third of five children. He grew up on the family farm helping his parents and two older brothers with crops, raising beef cattle, and milking, in addition, to playing and getting in trouble with his brothers and friends. Larry became a big brother at age 11 and again at 13 with the addition of his sister and another brother. Larry attended Zeeland Public School and graduated in 1972, where his love of sports earned him recognition as he participated in baseball, basketball, and football, where he excelled.

As a Midget league baseball pitcher, he once struck out twenty-one batters in a 7-inning game. He was a member of the 1970-1972 baseball team that won the District Tournament each year. The 1971 baseball team took 3 ^rd at state and in 1972 returned to the state tournament but lost their first two games. During a state playoff game in Jamestown, ND, Larry was sick with mononucleosis. He traveled with the team but could not play; however, he was sent in to pinch hit and ended up hitting a grand slam.

Larry was also a member of the Zeeland basketball team. During his 8 ^th grade season, he made 52 game free throws in a row. In 1972, when Larry was a senior in high school, his team won Zeeland's first District Championship and went on to the Regional Championship game where they lost.

As a Sophomore, Larry joined the newly form Zeeland football team as a fullback and middle linebacker. This was where he really shined, blessed with strength, size, and natural ability Larry had the speed to outrun opponents and the power and strength to take down the opposing team. As a senior he made the All-Southwest Region Team and became one of the best football players in Zeeland at that time.

Larry went on to play football at Valley City State for four years while double majoring in Physical Education and Biology. During his college football years, Larry made the All-District Team as a defensive end and was regarded as an outstanding player by his coaches. He would bring other players home to the family farm, where they would get a home cooked meal. During his time in Valley City, he was also known as a great foosball player, winning a couple of Championships! Until one night, years later, his little sister beat him playing doubles.

After college, Larry tried his hand at teaching but finally settle back on the family farm. In the summers, he worked construction with Upper Plains Construction Company in Aberdeen, SD for many years. For the past 10 years Larry worked for the City of Zeeland doing maintenance and all-around general helper. He mowed lawns, fixed equipment, painted buildings, and his favorite, plowing snow! The community will deeply miss him.

Larry was one of the good guys, he was a caring, although loud, person. His favorite was running up/down the steps from the basement doing the Tarzan yell! When his dad was diagnosis with Alzheimer's he helped his mom take care of him. Larry also took care of his mom during her later years, allowing her to stay at home for as long as possible. The rest of the family was very appreciative of his ability to do so. Back in high school he saved the life of a classmate during a class trip. Larry also adopted any stray cat that would come to the farm and fed them every day. He was very smart and recently loved to explore on the computer. He liked old movies and watching football on TV, of course!

Larry is survived by his four siblings: Bruce (Kathy) Boschee, of Aberdeen, SD and their son Aden; Wayne Boschee of Aberdeen, SD; Pamela (Greg) Olund of Chanhassen, MN and their children Hannah and Benjamin; and Curt Boschee (Karen Hillerman) of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Idella Boschee; nephew Myles Brawner; and both sets of grandparents.
