Katherine (Feist) Nagel, 89, of Linton, ND, died May 22, 2022, at the Strasburg Care Center with her family by her side. A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday, May 24, from 5-8 p.m. at St. Anthony Church, Linton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Anthony Church on Wednesday, May 25, at 11:00 a.m. The Catholic Daughters will lead a rosary at 10:30. Katherine (Katie) Nagel was born on October 6, 1932, in the farm home four miles southeast of Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Michael (Mike) and Martha (Dorscher) Feist.

She attended grade schools at Oakes and Strasburg, ND. She graduated from St Benedict's High School in Strasburg. She continued her education at Mayville State Teacher's College and Valley City State Teacher's College. She taught in the Krassna School District for two years and Winona School District for three years, both in Emmons County.

Katherine married Anton (Tony) Nagel at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg, ND, on June 19, 1956. Following their marriage they lived and farmed 17 miles southwest of Linton, ND. They accepted two foster sons, Dave and Abe Lepak (ages 10 and 12), into their home for six and a half years. They adopted an infant daughter, Mary Kay, in 1967; then they adopted another infant daughter, Betty Ann, in 1969. Her husband died on May 26, 1970; after which Katherine, with her little children, moved into Strasburg for two years and then into Linton.

Katherine's faith and family were the centerpieces of her life.

Because of her love of teaching and her deep desire to share her Catholic faith, Katherine taught religion to grade school children for 42 years. For a few years, she helped teach adults in the R.C.I.A. program.

Katherine was an active member in St. Claire #1846 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. In 1998, she received the North Dakota State's Catholic Daughter of the Year award. She was a Cojourner (a lay associate) with the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Aberdeen, SD, since August 0f 1989.

Katherine was also involved in the community, volunteering much of her time and talents in various ways and areas.

Grateful to have shared her life are her two daughters and their families: Mary Kay (Paul) Hulm of Sunset, Texas; Betty Ann Field, Colorado Springs, CO; her grandchildren: Amanda (Hulm) Syed, Scott Hulm, Trevor Field, Katherine (AJ Jamison) Field; and her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Zara, and Shayaan Syed. She is also survived by her former son-in-law Rex Field; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe (Joann), Conrad (Nadine), Adam (Mary Ann), John, Richard (Sue); brother-in-law: Eugene (Palma) Nagel and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings and in-laws: Leo and Dorothy Feist, Pete and Peggy Feist, and Theresa (Frank Reinbold and Albert Wagner).
