The funeral for Katharina Holzer, Wishek, ND will be Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Napoleon, ND
Katharina, daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (Zacher) Gefre was born October 4, 1916 at Hague, ND where she grew up and attended school. Katharina married Joseph Holzer February 5, 1935 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Hague, ND. Katharina and Joe lived in the Hague and Strasburg, ND area until October 6, 1948 when they moved to a farm 17 miles northeast of Wishek, ND. She moved to Bismarck, ND in the winter of 2004. In the spring of 2008, due to health issues, she was placed in the Care Center at Wishek, ND, where she resided until her death. Katharina was a gentle, loving and hard working mother. No matter what the chores or challenges, she was always a team player and leader. She took pride in her cooking, baking and maintaining the meticulous gardens. She had a fond liking for flowers, therefore you would find her gardens bordered with flowers. For several years Katharina cooked for many weddings and other social events. She prided herself that her children had three meals a day and a snack. Though dementia became apparent through the years, she continued to greet you with a "Hi" and the most beautiful smile. Oh, how we will miss that. Katharina's deep faith kept her very close to the church.
Katharina died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. She was 97 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, two sons, Joseph and August, one daughter, Angeline, one son-in-law, Pete Feist, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great-grandson, her parents, several brothers and sisters and in-laws.
