In the company of her family, Karen K. Gorman (nee Hartman), age 72, was born into Eternal Life on September 28, 2015.  The second of three children of Gottlieb and Delores Hartman, Karen was born on April 29, 1943 at the Hartman family farm south of Kulm, where she lived until she departed for college at North Dakota State University.  After college, Karen was married and settled in Chicago, raising her two children in the Beverly neighborhood, on the city's south side.  She was an active member of the Beverly community for over 40 years.  Karen was the owner/operator of an interior decorating business for almost 30 years.  Her workmanship was legendary and her waitlist up to 9 months long.  In 2005, Karen retired from painting in order to spend more time caring for her father, Gottlieb, who lived with her from 2003 until his passing in 2009.
Throughout her adult life. Karen never lost touch with the Kulm community.  She was a frequent visitor to town, bringing her kids to "the farm" each summer throughout their growing up years, and she returned regularly to attend the all school reunions each June.
Karen was the beloved companion and best friend of John Bodnar.   She was the loving mother of Joseph (Kate) Sheils and Teresa Lewis the proud grandma of Sean, the late Evan, Emily, Margaret Rose, Edward "Ted" and Allison; the devoted daughter of the late Delores and Gottlieb Hartman of Kulm, ND; the loving sister of Gerald (Carolyn) Hartman of Boise, ID, and the late Larry (the late Norma) Hartman of Keystone, SD. Karen was also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Dahlstron Funeral Home of Kulm was entrusted with arrangements.
