Obituary

The funeral for June Harriet Land, 91, Tulsa, OK will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Kulm, ND.  Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Kulm, ND.

On June 20, 1927, a baby girl was born to Alvin and Lillian (Johnson) Bjur.  June Harriet

Bjur grew up on the family farm northwest of Kulm, ND.   She attended a rural school and graduated from the 8 th grade.

June was unable to attend High School, but due to a shortage of teachers, she was hired to teach at a rural school northwest of Fredonia.  She later attended college and received her teaching certificate.  She taught school in Swede Township for 2 years.  She often talked about how homesick she was during this time and enjoyed telling stories of her teaching days.

On June 27, 1951 she married Alvin Land. The marriage was blessed with six children and together the family farmed in Swede Township until 1982.  At this time Alvin and June moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where their four daughters were living.  June worked at Oral Roberts Ministries correspondence unit handling special answer letters while Alvin did carpentry work.

In 1995, her husband of 44 years passed away.  A few years later June moved to Bethel, Missouri to work at a Christian elementary school.  After less than a year, due to health concerns, she moved back to Tulsa.

In 2006, June decided to move back to Kulm and lived there until warmer weather beckoned a final move to Tulsa in 2014.   On January 4th, 2019, she moved to her eternal home in heaven.

June loved family, teaching, sharing about Jesus and playing Scrabble.  She was an excellent Scrabble player and participated in Scrabble tournaments into her 80's and even played a game the last week of her life.  She was an artist, a writer of poems and during her last year authored a book sharing her memories of her life.

June held many titles during her life:  Daughter, Sister, Teacher, Aunt, Wife and Mother, and enjoyed the title of Grandma the most.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Arleth Bjur Anderson, her parents, Alvin and Lillian Bjur, and her husband Alvin Land.  June was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Land Glenn in 1998.

She is survived by her remaining 5 children: Arlyn (Sharalyn) Land, of Kulm, ND and their children (David, Katrina, Amber and Joshua); Gayle (Joe) Deitz, of Broken Arrow, Ok and their children (Greg and Daniel); Charlotte McCullough, of Bixby, OK and her sons (Ty, Troy, and Todd); Iris Culp, of Tulsa, OK and her daughters  (Elise and Laurel);  Percy (Kathi) Land, of Fort Worth, TX and their daughters (Keisha and Kelsie).  June is also survived by Sharon's daughter Audra Glenn of Tulsa, OK, and son Justin Glenn of Houston, TX.   Additionally, June is survived by her 2 brothers, Clifton Bjur and Lyle (Claire) Bjur both of Kulm, 9 great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews and a host of friends in Kulm and Tulsa.
