The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Steele, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Steele, ND.


Julia Wald, daughter of Stanislaus and Catherine (Bosch) Wald was born July 30, 1926 in Logan County. As a young girl she was a member of the Sodality of Our blessed Lady and later became a member of St. Francis Altar Society. As a young woman she worked for various families in her community helping take care of children and helping with chores. Julia married Anton Meier July 1, 1952 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Together they had ten children and raised three step children. They resided and farmed in Steele, ND for 45 years. Julia loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed cooking, listening to polka music and many many hours of cards. Julia will be greatly missed by her family and friends.


Julia went to her Heavenly Home August 4, 2012 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. She was 86 years old.

Julia is survived by her ten children, Rosemary Puklich, Elise (Jim) Volk, Bernice (Tony) Puklich, Luella Brahos (special friend Keith), Kenny (Linda) Meier, Delores (Stan) Fossum, Victor (Sarah) Meier, Anna (Lorin) Kahl, Debbie (Craig) Hester and Andy Meier ( special friend Janel); 28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Joe Wald, Alois Wald, Frank Wald and Andy Wald; three sisters, Barbara Duchscherer, Sister Gerad Wald and Regina Schmidt. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Meier, three sons, Anton Jr., Isadore and Valens; parents, Stanislaus and Catherine Wald; sisters, Margaret Fettig and Katie Wald; brother, Anton Wald; two son-in-laws, John Brahos and John Puklich.
