John A. Bitz, 90, of Napoleon, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Napoleon Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND with Fr. Neil Pfeifer officiating and concelebrants Fr. James Gross and Fr. Brian Gross. The Rosary will begin at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Napoleon. A Livestream of John's Funeral Service will be available on the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Facebook Page or St. Philip Neri Napoleon YouTube Page. The family respectfully requests that all those in attendance at the Mass and the visitation observe Covid 19 and social distancing protocols.

John A. Bitz was born to Adam and Mary (Becker) Bitz on May 28, 1930 on a farm near Burnstad, ND, the eldest of 11 children.  He attended a country school until the 6 ^th grade, and then helped his parents full time on their farm until purchasing his own farm.

John and Margaret Gross were married on May 10, 1954 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in rural Logan County.

John enjoyed farming and ranching, raising cattle, and driving draft horses.

Memories of John will be treasured by his wife of 66 years, Margie; children, Dennis (Mary) of Rochester, MN, David (Donna) of Fargo, Darrell (Danita) of Napoleon, and Darwin of Dickey; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters; George (Eileen), Leo (Pat), Vincent (Bonnie), Pius (Cindy), Rosemary Wangler, Helen (Bob) Dauenhauer, Francis Hornbacher Maggie (Dan) Seifert, Sally (Jim) Beneke; one brother-in-law, Ben Weigel.

Preceding John in death were his parents, Adam and Mary; sister Delores Weigel; daughter-in-law, MaryAnne Bitz; and brother-in-law, Ramy Wangler.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials go to the Napoleon Care Center or to your preferred charity.
