Jehu Miller, 95, of Wishek, formerly of Napoleon died August 18, 2023 at the Wishek Hospital, Wishek ND. Private Family services will be held.

Jehu Miller was born on May 8, 1928 on a farm in Logan County, North Dakota. He completed his elementary education in a country school near his home.   Jehu had a love for learning and although circumstances did not allow for him to formally further his education, he greatly enjoyed reading his World Book encyclopedias and learning about the world around him.  On June 1951 he married the love of his life, Delores LIebelt and they remained devoted to each other for the next 72 years until separated by Jehu's passing.  After returning from their honeymoon they came home to find Jehu's draft notice in the mail. During his time in the Army, Jay (as he was often called) and Delores lived in Maryland, Denver and San Francisco which was a very significant adventure for the young couple who had only known the North Dakota prairies up to that time.  While in the army Jehu served as a medic in psychiatric wards and he took his training very seriously.  In 1953 their daughter Sheri joined the family and their son Wayne was born in 1959.  Jehu and Wayne and their wives worked together on the family farm until Jay and Delores retired and moved to Lehr in 2011 where they greatly enjoyed being 1/2 block from their church. They could often be seen walking there, hand in hand, carrying their Bibles.  In July of 2022 they moved to an assisted living facility in Wishek. Jay unexpectedly passed away in the apartment on August 18, 2023. He was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and his faith and family were everything to him.  He enjoyed being in his shop where he would weld, fix motors, invent gadgets to make life easier and he particularly was good at restoring old pickups and tractors.  In the mid-70s he began to manufacture windrower transports which he sold to farmers from all over the Dakotas in order to raise money to provide a Christian education to his children.  One of the family jokes was that Jehu often needed to be welding in his shop right during milking time.  He also loved music and taught himself to play violin, mandolin and the accordion and he would add often add his tenor voice to sing with others.

He is survived by his wife, Delores, daughter Sheri (Vern) Vliet and son Wayne (Karlene) and 5 grandchildren, Jonny (Alyssa) Vliet, Jordan (Jaylene) Vliet, Mikaela (Anthony) Miller, McKenzie (Lilly) Miller and Kaeden Miller and 11 great grandchildren.   He was a wonderful husband and father and his family and friends look forward to the day when they can reunite with Jehu and once again make music together.
