James Fischer, 96, of Napoleon, ND, died June 23, 2024 at Wentz Living Center, Napoleon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Feist Funeral Home, Napoleon. Burial will be take place at the Napoleon City Cemetery.
James Einar Fischer, son of Einar and Mae (Gallager) Fischer was born June 25, 1927 in Dodge, ND. He grew up on the family farm 5 miles south of Dodge and attended school in Dodge. Jim was drafted into the Army Reserve in 1951 and at one point was stationed in Anchorage Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
Jim married Virgina Uglem December 16, 1957 in Steele, North Dakota. They made their home in Steele where Jim worked for Patterson Ranch. The family moved to Minneapolis in the mid 1950's and Jim worked at a metals plating plant. The family moved back to Napoleon in 1976. The next 13 years were spent working at the Kintyre elevator and other odd jobs. His garden was his pride and joy! He was well known for his abundant and massive tomato produce! Jim was a member of Napoleon Trinity Lutheran Church and the Napoleon American Legion.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Judy Robinette of Napoleon, sons Jerry (Deb) of Breezy Point, Minnesota; Robert (Brenda) of Bismarck. Also surviving are grandchildren Charity (Curtis) Greene, James Robinette, Megan Fischer, Kaitlin (Nick) Dahlin, Tanner Fischer, Karla Bitz (Damian Fredrickson), Kevin (Mindy) Bitz, Matt Righi, and Emily Righi; several great-grandchildren, son-in-law Sebastian Bitz, and numerous nieces, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; daughter Debbie Bitz; brothers Allen and Tom Fischer, his parents, and son-in-law Ken Robinette. Jim passed away 2 days shy of his 97th birthday,
