The funeral for Jacob Sayler, Wishek, ND will be Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Jacob Sayler son of Edward and Christina (Weisser) Sayler was born December 11, 1925 at Wishek, ND. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Wishek and attended rural school. Jacob enlisted in the Army December of 1945 and was discharged August of 1946. After his discharge from the army, Jacob worked on the family farm until 1950. Jacob married Irene Mueller on April 2, 1955 at Madison, SD. Jacob worked for Kramer Implement, the local John Deere dealership, as a tractor mechanic until January of 1959 when he went into business with his father, Ed. They owned and operated Sayler's Standard Service. In 1973 Standard Oil of Indiana changed its name to Amoco but "the station" as it was always referred to, still remained the same, Sayler's Standard Service. Jacob and Irene also owned and operated a Laundromat in Wishek for several years. In 1979 Ed retired and Jerome entered the business with Jacob. They continued to operate until 1995 when Jacob retired. Jacob and Irene continued to live in their home in Wishek until the spring of 2009 when they entered the Wishek Home for the Aged. Jacob was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church at Wishek, ND. He was a past member of the Wishek Wildlife Club. Jacob enjoyed fishing and staying at the lake. Jacob loved to tinker with things and kept himself busy with lawn mower and small engine repair.
Jacob died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. He was 84 years old.
Jacob is survived by his wife, Irene Sayler, Wishek, ND; three sons, Jerome (Doreen) Sayler, Wishek, ND; Clyde Sayler, Silverdale, WA; Donald (Mary) Sayler, Bismarck, ND; six brothers, Ludwig (Irene) Sayler, Bismarck, ND; Reinhold (Ella Mae) Sayler, Baldwin, ND; Daniel (Marlys) Sayler, Wishek, ND; Herman (Alvina) Sayler, Wishek, ND; Albert (Betty) Sayler, Wishek, ND; Victor (Deanna) Sayler, Apple Valley, MN; five sisters, Eva Just, Wishek, ND; Edna Weist, Wishek, ND; Landina (Wilbert) Meidinger, Wishek, ND; Arlena (Leo) Hauck, Wishek, ND; Christina (Dennis) Witt, Jamestown, ND; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
