Irene Schauer, 93, of Wishek, ND, died May 19, 2021 at the Wishek Living Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22 ^nd at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21 ^st from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will be held at the Wishek City Cemetery. Irene was born January 18, 1928 in McIntosh County, N.D. as the youngest child to Fred and Emelia Bender. She grew up on her parent's farm where she also attended rural elementary school. She later went on to obtain her high school diploma. Irene loved flower gardening and collected rolling pins and angels. She enjoyed traveling coast to coast to visit family and friends.

On November 27, 1949, she was united in marriage with Elmer Schauer at Wishek. After their marriage the couple farmed nine miles south of Wishek until 1978 when they moved into Wishek.  In 1966, she entered the Farmer's Elevator business with Elmer as co-owner and served on the Elevator Board as Secretary-Treasurer for 11 years and remained active in that business until Elmer retired in 1981.

Irene was active in her community and church. Her passion for the Lord spilled over to her church, her family, and Crystal Springs Bible Camp.  At the age of ten, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized by Rev. Albert Itterman in 1938 and was a lifelong member of the Wishek First Baptist Church. She served in youth group as President, was a Sunday School Secretary, Scripture Memorization Sponsor and youth and junior youth leader for 9 years, choir member, Sunday School Primary Teacher for 40 years, Bible School Teacher for 22 years. She was also a member of the Dorcas Society and held positions of President, Vice President, and Secretary. She was a member of the Mission Board and on the Flower Committee for 30 years.

She is survived by her children; son Bruce (Leora) grandchildren Daniel, Josh (Lacey) 2 great grandchildren, Maureen (Kevin) 3 great grandchildren, Madeline, daughter Karen (Ted) Handel, son Jeff (Brenda) grandchildren Nick (Susan) 3 great grandchildren, Lora (Brent) 2 great grandchildren, and Megan (Nathan) 3 great grandchildren, son Russ (Pat) grandchildren Stephanie (Randy) 2 great grandchildren, Luke (Jessie), and Ali (Caleb), son Randy (Caroline) grandchildren Alexis, Amber, Everett (Destiny), son Jody (Michelle) grandchildren Andrew, Benjamin, and Allison. Also, grandchildren of son Kendall, Dacia (Cody) 1 great grandchild, Kaila, and Nathan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 4 siblings, her husband, Elmer, and her son, Kendall, and 2 infant grandchildren.
