The funeral service for Irene Kautz, Wishek, ND will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the United Church of Christ in Wishek, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the Wishek City Cemetery.

On March 17, 1920, John C. and Magdalena (Goeble) Boschee introduced their first daughter, Irene, to two older brothers awaiting her arrival. This family continued to grow with the birth of a total of 11 children. Irene spent her childhood on farms in Logan County, attending schools through 8th grade. In her late teens, she went to Jamestown where she worked as a domestic in the home of a local physician. On June 29, 1939 she became the bride of Arthur Kautz. They established their farm home north of Wishek. The family was comprised of Joyce (Lyle) Ketterling, Carroldine (Myron) Olson, Thomas (Cheryl) and Rynell (Matthew) Korczak. This was truly a "family" farm, as everyone was required to do what they were capable of doing----and to us kids it seemed like-----just a wee bit more! Irene's creativity was sparked in the kitchen, at the sewing machine, at the quilting frame and ceramics. In addition, she enjoyed bridge, volunteering and spending time with family and friends.

Irene died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND. She was 95 years old.

Irene is survived by her children, Joyce (Lyle) Ketterling, Thomas (Cheryl) and Rynell (Matthew) Korczak; son-in-law, Myron Olson; her siblings Gideon Boschee, Alma Decker, Alleen Buetow and Lorriane Wahl as well as in-laws Audrey Boschee, Mildred Kautz, Verna Kautz Ackerman and Walter Perleberg, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were very important to her. Those preceding her in death are her parents, husband of 55 years, daughter, Carroldine, grandson Justin Korczak, siblings Reuben, Marvin, Albert, Edwin, Martha and Edna.
