Gramma (Ione) was born November 13, 1938 in Napoleon to Helen (Vetsch) and Rudolph Heyd. Rudolph passed away from pneumonia 10 days after she was born. They then moved to Wright, MN where she attended school. This is where she met the "love of her life", Kenneth Bolstad, who was down there visiting his nieces where Helen was their housekeeper after their mom, Mayme, (Kenneth's sister) had passed away during childbirth.

Ken and Ione got married in Napoleon on June 22, 1956. They moved to the Bolstad Family Farm and started their life together, raising cattle and milking cows. They were the hardest workers and most caring people anyone had met. This is where our family got their love, values, and work ethics from. She was so proud of her family and extended family and had a special name for each of them.

Ken and Ione moved to town in 1989. She started to work at Napoleon Livestock as the head cook on sale days and quickly became known as Gramma to all. She was known as a fabulous cook and for having the best knoephla soup around. In 2013 she retired from the sales barn so she could spend more time with family and spoil her great grandchildren.

Gramma is survived by her four daughters and their families, Diane (Dave) Givan, Audrey (Rory) Schlenker, Connie (Ed) Piatz, Sandy (David) Schmidt; grandchildren, Kristen (Todd) Moos, Bryan (Jess) Grenz, David Luke (Pam) Givan, Amber Place, Ashley (Bill) Adam, Christopher Bolstad, Adam (Bolstad) Voegele, Josh (Meridee) Becker, Teresa (Barry) Pfeifle, Bobbi (Adam) Davidson, Lance (McKinzie) Piatz, Tori (Tom) Gross, Joe (Karla) Schmidt, April (Ken) Dahme, Jonathan (Madison Gourde) Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor and Lily Moos, Hunter, Madisyn and Khloee Grenz, Ellie and Thomas Givan, Taylor and Kaylee Place, Nora and Erin Adam, Isiah Bolstad, Miranda and Ty Becker, Casen and Decker Davidson, Jetta, Conner and Spencer Piatz, Tayte, Tessa, Talyn and Timmy Gross, Sophie and Kenna Schmidt, Kwyn, Keyn, Kennedy and Kamryn Dahme, Baby Schmidt due in June 2023; step-sisters, Delores (Sulo) Walli, and Jeannie Benson, her precious cat (Doofey).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, of 50 years; her parents, Rudolph and Helen Heyd; son, Gary; brothers, Herbert, Lloyd, Bob and Walter Heyd; sister, Virginia Schwartz.

Fly high Gramma. Keep your loving arms wrapped around us all. You are "so loved" by all who knew you.
