The funeral for Hilbert Edward Zimmerman, Napoleon, North Dakota will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, ND with Pastor Susan Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery.
Hilbert Edward Zimmerman son of Gottlieb and Mary (Winkler) Zimmerman was born on November 20, 1922 on the family farm near Tappen, ND. Hilbert grew up on the family farm and enrolled in the service in 1940 where he served in the Navy as a machinist mate first class until 1946 at which time he received an honorable discharge. Hilbert was the proud owner of Napoleon Sheet Metal from 1948-2003. Hilbert was united in marriage to Marie Krein on Sunday, June 12, 1949 at Napoleon, ND where they made their home He was always happy to help anyone with their furnace and air conditioner problems and was on call constantly but never complained. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as Treasurer. He enjoyed fishing, wood-working, playing cards, and his green house above the shop.
Hilbert died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. He was 91 years old.
Hilbert is survived by his one son, Larry Zimmerman of Napoleon, ND, and his three daughters, Sandy Hominick of Brandon, Manitoba, Palmyra (Keith) Taylor, of Ham Lake, Minnesota and Carol (Gary) Johnson of St. Paul, Minnesota. As well as his grand-children, Mark (Carrie) Taylor, Julie Hominick, Trevor Hominick, Eric (Amber) Taylor and Kari Taylor. He was also a great-grandpa to Maxwell and Henry Taylor (Mark). Hilbert is also survived by his sister, Esther Werre and brother Irvin (Jackie) Zimmerman. He was preceded by his wife, Marie, parents, Gottlieb and Mary Zimmerman, his brothers Jacob Zimmerman and Arthur Zimmerman and his sister Hilda Werre.
