The funeral for Herbert Wiest, Wishek, ND will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Zeeland, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a devoctional service at 7:00 pm at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery, Zeeland, ND.

Herbert Otto Wiest, son of Jacob H. and Eva (Wolf) Wiest was born November 15, 1926 on the family farmstead rural Zeeland, ND. He grew up and attended rural school in Zeeland. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1951 and served thru 1953 during the Korean War. Because he was fluent in the German language, he was stationed in Germany. Herbert attended Votec School in Fargo, ND. Herbert was united in marriage to Arlia Meidinger on February 16, 1954 at Zeeland, ND. They farmed on the family homestead in the Zeeland area. They retired in 2006 and moved into Wishek, ND. Herbert served on the Kem Electric Board as treasurer and secretary for 16 years. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Zeeland where he served on the church council and was the Sunday School Superintendent.

Herbert died Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. He was 91 years old.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Arlia, Wishek, ND; four sons, Richard (Karen) Wiest, Wishek, ND; Erwin Wiest, Eureka, SD; Herbert Wiest Jr., Woodstock, IL and Rodney (Tina) Wiest, Zeeland, ND; one sister, Werna Deile, Wishek, ND; eight grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
