Obituary

Gordon Hoberg, 94, of Napoleon, ND, went home to be with Jesus on July 3, 2024 at SMP Health Ave Maria, Jamestown. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Monday, August 5, 2024 at 9:00 AM.

Gordon was born September 13, 1929 at Burnstad, ND to Ole and Nora (Lund) Hoberg. He graduated from Bismarck High School, University of Jamestown and University of ND School of Law. Gordon married Shirley Feil in 1955. Together they had four kids, Grayson, Connie, John and Eric.

He practiced Law in Wishek and Napoleon, served as Logan County States Attorney for 20 years and was appointed District Judge on August 12, 1983. He also served in the Korean War and was awarded the purple heart. While serving he spent nine months in the hospital as a result of injuries received while serving in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Court Services Administration Committee and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. A member of Lions clubs, American Legions, Disabled American Veterans, Jamestown College Alumni Board, chairman of the Lutheran Social Service Board of Directors and President of the Napoleon Airport Authority.  Gordon concluded my law career as District Judge.

Gordon first love in life was ranching. He started ranching on the original Hoberg Ranch near Burnstad, ND. He eventually bought a Ranch six miles NE of the original Hoberg Ranch, where he and Shirley lived and ranched until moving to Napoleon in the Fall of 2023.

Gordon's final words to all; I'm a lucky man, I have lived a great life, I married Shirley as soon as I could talk her into it, and God blessed us with four children, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. This should be enough for any man. But God's blessing continued. It has been a fun and great life. My closing words are "May the Lord abide with you and with this great nation.

Gordon is survived by his wife Shirley, Napoleon; children, Grayson (Denise), Western Springs, IL, Connie (Ben) Volk, Lusk, WY, John (Jody) Laramie, WY, Eric (Michelle), Wishek, ND; grandchildren; Shirley Volk, Hugo, MN, Katherine (James) Kruse, Lusk, WY, Gordon (Randilyn) Volk, Denver, CO, Erik (Stephani) Hoberg, Tucson, AZ, Kaitlyn Hoberg, Laramie, WY, Cameron Hoberg, Laramie, WY, Justin Hoberg, Fargo, ND, Luke Hoberg, Wishek, ND, Jack Hoberg, Wishek, ND; great-grandchildren; Eleanor Senart, Paul Kruse, Ben Kruse, Ameson Volk, Hollyn Volk, Amelia Hoberg and Theodore Hoberg; and one brother, Glenn Hoberg, River Falls, WI.
