Gladys Maier Brosy, 90, of Wishek, ND, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy to let your light shine into the world and into the lives of others. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Faith Community Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held one prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Wishek City Cemetery. A livestream of Gladys's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.

Gladys was born on December 23, 1933, in Antelope Township in McIntosh County to David and Martha (Fregien) Maier. She was baptized February 4, 1934, and confirmed July 3, 1949. She graduated from Ashley High School on May 21, 1953, and attended Ellendale State Normal and Industrial College. She taught at rural county schools for four years and worked in the Gackle and Wishek Hospitals. Gladys met Elmer Brosy through mutual friends and were united in marriage on November 25, 1960, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wishek, North Dakota. They began farming four miles west of Wishek. Two girls, Faye and Kay were born to this marriage.

Known for her hospitality and compassion for others, Gladys was active in a variety of organizations throughout her years such as the American Legion Auxiliary Historian, Wishek Public School Alumni Association, Nursing Home Ambassadors, Martha's Ladies Aide, Sunday School and VBS teacher, and thoroughly enjoyed accompanying Elmer on several School bus trips to events such as music, science fairs, sports, and class field trips.

Over fifty plus years, Gladys and Elmer built and established a grain farm and were most grateful when Nathan and Tim Rath continued to steward the land which Gladys prepped by picking unlimited rocks, cultivating, hauling grain, climbing grain bins, cutting lawn, and anything she needed to do to improve the land or farmyard. She also loved taking care of many furry friends which included cats, dogs, deer, birds, or any living creature which crossed her path. She was a farmer.

Gladys was a true advocate of education and relished in watching her grandchildren graduate from high school, college, and a White Coat Ceremony.

In the past few years, instead of "high gear," she has had to slow down and "smell the roses." She truly loved gardening, and if you were ever at her table, you tasted one of her rhubarb pies, popcorn balls, caramel rolls, baked rice, potato salad, homemade ice cream, or hot fudge topping, and this is how she endlessly showed her love as she gave you some candy as you were leaving her apartment.

Grateful to have shared her life, two daughters: Faye (Scott) Nelson, Kay (Glenn) Rivinius; one granddaughter: Ashlyn (Drew) Kamrath; three grandsons: Chandler, Nicholas, and Kayedenn Rivinius; one sister: Mabel (Vince) Dalke; four sisters-in-law: Esther Maier, Sheila Brosy, Elleen Wiest, and Betty (Aloys) Grosz; seven nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer, of 52 years; parents: David and Martha (Fregien) Maier; inlaws: Jacob Jr. and Lydia (Ketterling) Brosy; one brother: Roger Maier; three brothers-in-law: Delmar Brosy, Floyd Brosy, and Clarence Wiest.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship will be given to a female pursuing an agricultural degree and other local organizations.
