Gladys Mae Becker, 95, of Pierre, SD, formerly of Napoleon, ND, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, March 19, at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. A    Memorial Service will be celebrated in Gladys' honor at Napoleon United Methodist Church on May 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM.

Gladys, born on May 20, 1922, was raised on the family homestead in rural Streeter, ND to Frederick C. and Marie (Buck) Ketterling. She graduated from Streeter High, and then obtained a teaching certificate at Ellendale College.

Raymond Becker and Gladys married, beginning their life of enduring love and support, on December 5, 1943 in Streeter. Living in rural Napoleon, ND, they farmed and ranched, while she taught in rural schools in their early marriage. After they moved into Napoleon, she later transitioned to teaching second grade in town in 1964. At age 57 she graduated from the University of Mary with a bachelor's degree. She retired in 1998 after teaching 39 years.

When they retired Gladys and Ray began winter travels to Mesa, Az. After Ray's death in 2006 Gladys continued to enjoy being a snowbird with the loving assistance of her extended family through 2013. It was then that she moved from Napoleon to Pierre, SD.

Gladys humbly revealed her Christian faith and touched many lives by her quiet example. She loved the Lord, her family, and those about her. These were her joys. She was selfless, to a fault, asking or expecting little, with her heart centered on the welfare of others. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, can be directed to the Napoleon United Methodist Church, the McCoy Radio Ministry, or Teen Challenge.

She is survived by her children Sharyn (Norman) Hauck, Eldon (Marlys) Becker; grandchildren Marlin Hauck, Laura (Chad) Hood, Brandt (Rebecca) Becker, BryAnn (Andrew) Becker Knecht; and great-grandchildren Bryce, Paige, Kate, Brooks Becker; and extraordinary extended family.  two sisters, Elda Erbele, Elvira Greuel.   Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Becker, parents F.C. and Marie (Buck) Ketterling, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.  Share memories and sign online guest book at www.dahlstromfuneralservice.com .  Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND entrusted with arrangements.
