The funeral for Gertrude Kaseman, Bismarck, ND formerly of Wishek, ND will be Monday, December 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.


Gertrude Meidinger was born September 22, 1921 near Zeeland, ND, the oldest of 12 children growing up on a farm north of Zeeland, ND with her parents Albert C. and Emma (Schwindt) Meidinger. Gertrude married Arthur (Art) E. Kaseman on September 23, 1945 at New Kassel reformed Church, Rural Zeeland, ND. Gertrude was a dedicated farm wife and homemaker, raising three daughters on a farm southwest of Wishek, ND. She baked the best bread, gardened, canned food all summer long and sewed most the of clothes the girls wore. She assisted Art by driving grain trucks, moving machinery and helping with the dairy operation. Gertrude was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the Wishek Eagles. She loved to play bingo, enjoyed playing piano and reading. Upon retirement Art and Gertie moved to Wishek and after Art's death she moved to an apartment in Bismarck spending her last years at Missouri Slope Lutheran Home.


Gertrude passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center at Bismarck, ND. She was 89 years old.

Gertrude is survived by three daughters, Marion Houn (Rod) Warner, Bismarck, ND; Janice Bitz, Bismarck, ND and Ruby (Dale) Schantz, Peoria, AZ; nine grandchildren, Corey (Kristina) Houn, Green Bay, WI; Jodey (Megan) Houn, Bismarck, ND; Sheena Houn, Virginia Beach, VA; Melanie (Kevin) Paape, Fargo, ND; Miranda (Ryan) Dietrich, Fargo, ND; Mathias (Courtney) Bitz, San Jose, CA; Ramsey Schantz, Spencer Schantz and Dylan Schantz, Peoria, AZ; two step-grandsons, Ryan (Ann) Warner, New York, NY and Troy (Kristen) Warner, Bismarck, ND; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Luella (Delton) Davis, Bismarck, ND, Alma (Walter) Rath, Wishek, ND, Lorraine (Adam) Kaseman, Jamestown, ND, Alvina (Herman) Meidinger, Wishek, ND, Arlene (Melvin) Kaseman, Aberdeen, SD, and five brothers, Wilbert (Landina) Meidinger, Wishek, ND, Marvin (Delores) Meidinger, Wishek, ND, Wilmer (Wilma) Meidinger, Wishek, ND, Edgar (Phyllis) Meidinger, Zeeland, ND, Ellon (Rachel) Meidinger, Zeeland, ND, and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Art, who passed away in February 1996, her son-in-law Junior Bitz who passed away in October 1995 and her sister Viola.
