The funeral for George G. Gross, 77, Napoleon, North Dakota will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon, ND.
George G. Gross son of George A. and Frances (Schwartzenberger) Gross was born November 3, 1941 on the farm and attended Hills Country School. He was the seventh and youngest boy of eleven. George married Elaine Mary Johs on September 15, 1964 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church rural Napoleon. They lived in Wishek, ND until they moved to the family farm south of Napoleon, ND in 1966, until George retired in 1994. They then moved to town, where they started G&E Holiday Specialties from 1995 to 1998.
George loved to play card games, hearts on the computer and visit and play pranks on friends and family. He loved to entertain people by playing drums in a band with his wife Elaine, Benjamin and Delphine Vetter. He enjoyed fishing, rides on the pontoon, family trail rides, family gatherings and being a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
George passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old.
George is survived by, his wife Elaine ND; one son, Terry (Stacey) Gross; four daughters, Lori (Eddie Jr.) Kramer, Kim (Brian) Zins, Peggy (Loran) Urlacher and Sandy (Shawn) Brown; one brother, Monsignor Valentine Gross; four sisters, Mary (John) Vetter, Veronica (Wilfred) Masset, Lucille Scherr, Donna Mae Hoffmann; brothers-in-law, Edwin Ternes, Don (Leona) Hertz; sisters-in-law, Christine Gross, Mary Ann Gross; fifteen grandchildren, Tyler (Anna), Tatum, Tristan and Tess Gross, Eddie III, Bobbi (Savanna), Nicolas and Mac Kramer, Kaitlyn (Phillip) Vetter and Kendra Zins, Aaron and Ethan Urlacher, Johnathan Marshall and Dallas and Dakota Brown. They also have four great-grandchildren, Liam, Edyn and Baby Vetter and Brielle Gross. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and George A. Gross, his step-mother, Julia Gross, his mother and father-in-law, Eva and Carl Johs, his brothers, Clemens and Joe Gross, his sisters, Frances Lindeman, Barbara Ternes and Helen Hertz, his brothers-in-law, Clarence Lindeman, Terry Scherr, Matt Vetter, Tony Sperle.
