After making her home at the Wishek Living Center since 2011, Frances passed away early Thursday morning surrounded by family. Her life began on a ranch five miles west of Ashton, Idaho, when she was born on June 9, 1921 to George and Lela (Waugh) Nedrow. She attended country school and graduated from Ashton High School in 1939. On June 26, 1939, she married Carl Jonas. They made their home on a ranch west of Ashton, Idaho until 1943. At that time, they moved to North Dakota and purchased Carl's parents farm, five miles south of Fredonia. This is where they made their home until 1973 when Carl passed away. During her years on the farm, she helped make hay, milk cows, raise a big garden, and kept full healthy meals on the table. Whatever spare time available was spent at the sewing machine making clothes for her children along with serving as a 4-H leader.

On December 31, 1974, she married Roland Janke. They made their home in Fredonia where she served as city auditor, member of the senior citizens, Sunday school teacher, American Legion Auxiliary and WELCA. Roland and Frances were active members of the area square dancing clubs where they could show off the matching outfits she had sewn for them. Her family will always enjoy the many quilts she designed along with the baptism dresses and suits.

Left to mourn her passing include her two daughters, Sharon Quast,  of Billings, MT and Loretta (Ralph) Schultz, of Hazen, ND; daughter-in-law Lourie Jonas, of Wishek, ND; grandchildren, Lonnie (Maureen) Quast, Doug (Kathy) Quast, Teresa (Jeff) Bidleman, Brenda (Toby) Racki, Jeff (Su) Schultz, Patty (Shawn) Mosset, Acacia (Aaron) Stuckle, Carly (Eric) Sanders, Tyler (Kendra) Jonas; great grandchildren Dusty (Stevee) Quast, Ashley, Dillon and Dakota Quast, Lindsey (Mike) Merril, Shelby (Terril) Streck, Casey (Kirsten) Racki, Brittany Racki, Haley and Madison Schultz, Sydney, Myah, and Miranda Mosset, Henry and Ettalynn Stuckle, Jonas and Maddox Sanders and a great-granddaughter (Tyler & Kendra) scheduled to arrive near her 100th birthday; great-great-grandchildren Ezra and Evary Quast, Weston Racki, and Samson Merril.
