Evelyn K Scherbenske, 95, of Hettinger ND, passed away on October 5, 2021, at Western Horizons Care Center, Hettinger, ND. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 10:30 AM at Zion United Methodist Church, Lehr. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8
th
from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be held at the Lehr Cemetery.

Evelyn was born on July 25, 1926, in Lehr, ND to George and Matilda (Hochstetter) Mayer. She attended school at Lehr and graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class of 1944. She taught in a one room country school for 1 year after graduation.
Evelyn married Vernon J Scherbenske on July 7, 1945, in Aberdeen, SD. She began her banking career in 1956 and continued until retiring in 1989. During those years she worked numerous positions at the bank, including bookkeeping, teller, and cashier. She spent 22 years of her career at the Central Dakota Bank in Lehr. She enjoyed and appreciated the many friendships she developed during her career with the customers and employees she worked with. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and canning. Evelyn also enjoyed visiting and being around family and friends and enjoying a cup of coffee. She was a big sports fan and enjoyed going to high school sporting events.
Evelyn is survived by her two sons, John (Linda) Scherbenske, Lemmon, SD, and Jay, Fargo, ND; two grandsons, Eric Scherbenske, LaMoure, ND and Brandon Scherbenske, Ft. Wayne, IN; two granddaughters, Julie Scherbenske, Lemmon, SD and Tara Scherbenske, Texas.
Evelyn was preceded in the death by her parents, George, and Matilda; husband, Vernon J.; brothers, Harry, and Kermit; sisters, Imogene, Betty, and Pearl.
