The funeral for Evelyn Ost, Kulm, ND will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Kulm, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at the Assembly of God Cemetery, Kulm, ND.

Evelyn Christine Ost was born June 14, 1928 to Martin and Martha (Fey) Schlenker in McIntosh County where she attended rural school. In 1942 she moved with her parents to Kulm, ND where she was employed at the People's Store. She then also taught rural school for one year. On December 28th, 1947, she was united in marriage to Marvin Ost of rural Fredonia. In 1948 they moved to Kulm where Evelyn was employed for 21 years at Palm's Department Store. She also worked for Weothedy's Café for a number of years. In 1969 she and her husband leased the café for one year and they also owned and operated Murphy's Snack Hut for 10 years. In 1984 Evelyn started working for South Central Adult Services as a cook at the Kulm Senior Center where she retired after 22 years of service. During this time Evelyn also served on the board of directors of the LaMoure County Adult Services and was also the resident manager for the low rent housing in the city of Kulm. In October of 2009, Evelyn moved to Fargo and was a resident at the Elim Care Center where she spent her days playing bingo, cards, ceramics, and visiting with the staff, family, and guests. In her spare time, Evelyn loved listening to music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She also had a great passion for cooking and gardening, especially flowers. She attended the Kulm Assembly of God church. Evelyn was loved and adored by her family and by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Evelyn passed away May 5th, 2015 at the Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND. She was 86 years old.

Evelyn is survived by her one grandson, Nathan Ost, and his wife Christine Ost of Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Ost, her son Duane Ost, her parents, Martin and Martha (Fey) Schlenker, and her step father, Fred W. Goehner.
