Eugene Holzer, 88 of Wishek, ND, died September 28, 2024, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 6:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Feist Funeral Home, Wishek. Burial will be held at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Napoleon.

Eugene was born July 16, 1936, to Joseph and Katharine (Gefre) Holzer in Strasburg, ND. He attended country school and graduated from Strasburg High School. Following his schooling he moved to Idaho for several years, where he worked in the mines.  He returned to the family farm 16 miles north of Wishek when he enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and served until being honorably discharged in 1962. Following his military service, he lived in Bismarck where he worked for Melroe for several years. He then moved back to the family farm, where farmed and ranched for many years until he moved into Wishek in 2014. Eugene's greatest joy in his ranching career was raising his horses and having horse sales.

Eugene is survived by his brothers, Roy (Janet) Holzer, Bismarck, Donald Holzer (Jerane Wolberg), Menominee, WI, Patrick Holzer, Bismarck and Larry (Wanda) Holzer Blair, NE; sisters Betty Hilzendeger, Napoleon, Rose Feist, Bismarck, Darlene (Wendelin) Piatz, Bismarck, Kathleen (Douglas) Buck, Bismarck, Maggie (Tim) Schrader, Bismarck, Helen Crowe, Mandan and Barbara (Scott) Keller, Bismarck; sisters-in-law, Sandi Holzer, Bismarck, Myrtle Holzer, Bismarck and Muriel Holzer, Mandan; special friend Kitty Gall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, infant Joseph, Aloys, August, John and Edward; sister, infant Angeline; and brothers-in-law, Pete Feist and Ray Hilzendeger.
