The funeral for Esther R. Prochniak, Edgeley, ND will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Kulm, ND. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Kulm, ND. Burial will be at the Kulm Congregational Cemetery, Kulm, ND.

Esther Strobel daughter of Emil and Lydia (Gall) Strobel was born October 1, 1923 near Kulm, ND where she grew up and attended school. Esther graduated from Kulm High School in 1942. She attended Ellendale Normal School in Ellendale, ND where she received her teaching certificate. Esther taught for 8 years teaching in Kulm, Fredonia and Grand Rapids, ND. Esther was united in marriage to Philip Prochniak on October 8, 1950 at the Fredonia Congregational Church at Fredonia, ND. They made their home at Benson Corner south of Litchville, ND. They later moved and lived at Adrian, ND until the fall of 1962 when they moved to the Edgeley area. Philip passed away March 11, 1997. Esther then made her home in Jamestown, ND.  Esther loved the farm life, gardening and canning. She was known for embroidery and crocheting of dish towels. Esther also enjoyed doing genealogy work.

Esther died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Ava Maria Village at Jamestown, ND. She was 94 years old.

Esther is survived by one son, Darrell (Beverly) Prochniak, Edgeley, ND; three grandchildren, Brandi (Cory) Meyer, Mike (Vikki Gates) Titus and Dustin (Zulema) Titus; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, John (Julie) Prochniak, Sioux Falls, SD and several cousins. Three other special people in Esther's life are Trina Taszarek Schilling, Steve Taszarek and Mike Taszarek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip and her parents.
