The funeral for Esther Pfeifle, Napoleon ND will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND at 3:00 PM.

Esther was born February 11, 1921, in rural Logan County near Napoleon, the daughter of Adam and Christina (Wanner) Oberlander. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Napoleon and received her elementary education in rural Cokato Township. She Graduated from Napoleon High School in 1940. Following graduation she worked at Lubenow Grocery store in Fargo, returning to Napoleon and taught school in Cokato Township for 1 year. In 1943 she moved to Lansing Michigan working at Reo Motors factory as an inspector in the export packing department for 2 ½ years. Esther married Edwin Pfeifle on December 1, 1945 following his return from WWII. They lived and farmed the Pfeifle farm 1 mile south of Napoleon. She was employed by the Napoleon Public School system in the dietary department for 19 years and catered many weddings and banquets. Esther was a member of the Napoleon Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40+ years. Was president for many years of the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She served as church clerk and Deaconess as well as on the board of Christian Education and the Social Committee until the church closed. She was the president and a member of the Sunshine Homemakers; a member of Napoleon's 75th Jubilee Costume Committee; member of the American and ND School Food Service, President of South Central School Food Service Association for several years. Served as chair of the Napoleon Centennial Food Committee, member of the Napoleon Care Center Auxiliary; member of the 2nd Armored Division Auxiliary; life member of the Golden Age Club; life member and a volunteer of the Napoleon Care Center and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Hobbies included reading, cooking, volunteering, working on bent and wiggly word puzzles and being with family.

Esther died Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. She was 94 years old.

Survivors include: 1 daughter, Judith (Judy) and Gary Mourhess of Bismarck, 1 son, Rodney and Lois Pfeifle of Rapid City, SD, 3 grand children – Scott (Kari) Mourhess of Lino Lakes, MN, Adrian (Eddie) Rodriguez of Atascadero, CA, and Ross Pfeifle (Rachel Hall) of Rapid City, SD; 3 great grandchildren – Gage and Graycen Mourhess, Lino Lakes, MN and Eddie Ross Rodriguez, Atascadero, CA; three step great grandchildren in California – Aliyah, Lisa, and Jakai; sister, Helen Burleson, Jamestown, brothers, Eddie (Dorothy) Oberlander, Moorhead, MN, Larry Oberlander (Cathy Renn) Penn Valley, CA., sister-in-law – Anna Oberlander, Jamestown, ND, numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her husband, Edwin in 1998, her parents, 3 sisters – Mary Haid, Emma Bellon, Frieda Carstensen, and 4 brothers – Theo, Alvin, Otto and Walter Oberlander.
