Erma Ida (Sayler) Krein, 96, of Wishek, ND, passed away August 18, 2022 at the Wishek Home Apartments. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Faith Community Church, Wishek. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Wishek City Cemetery. A livestream of Erma's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website under her obituary.
Erma Ida Sayler was born on November 17, 1925 to Henry and Bertha Sayler in Hebron, ND. Erma's father Henry passed away when she was two years old. Bertha married John F. Rieger when Erma was six years old and became a proud member of a blended Rieger-Sayler family. Erma graduated from Wishek High School in 1944 and then taught rural school for three years. On June 15, 1947, Erma and Clarence E. Krein were united in marriage. In the footprints of their pioneer ancestors, they took some land and through toil, sweat and faith created a successful farming operation. In the process three sons were born, Richard, John and Steve.
Erma and Clarence were active members of the church and Erma fondly recalled 25 years of being Sunday School Superintendent. Erma and Clarence loved square dancing for many years. Erma was always kind and considerate to all. She loved cooking for everyone and there were never too many people in Erma's kitchen. When you entered, she would greet you with the question, "Are you hungry?" We will miss her story telling. Erma peacefully passed in her sleep at the age of 96. She was at peace and is at peace in her new home with the Lord.
Erma is survived by her sons, Richard (Kathy) Krein and John (Kim) Krein; daughter-in-law, Cindy Skibinski; grandchildren, Michael (Denyse), Jeffery (Kelsie), Rachel and Danny Krein, Tony, Evan (DreAnn) and Alex Blotsky; great-grandchildren, Alex and Jack Krein, Ethan and Maddison Krein and Jocylen and Ella and Gracie Blotsky; brothers and sisters, Albert Sayler, Virginia Just, Mary Ann Fiechtner, Betty (Bill) Gustafson, Roger (Fae) Rieger; and numerous nieces and nephews and yes she remembered and loved you all!
Erma was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, son Steve and many beloved family members.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to Faith Community Church or the Wishek City Cemetery fund.
