The funeral for Emil Dewald, Napoleon, ND will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Emil Dewald, son of Peter and Alvina (Eichele) Dewald was born May 10, 1935 at Streeter, ND. Emil grew up in the Dawson area and attended Liberty rural school and graduated from Dawson High School. He then moved to Montana where he worked as a carpenter. Emil returned back to the Dawson area. Emil was united in marriage to Diana Mertz on November 16, 1956 at Napoleon, ND. They lived on the Dewald family farm until September of 1957. They purchased the Mertz family farm where they farmed, ranched and had a custom hay business. Emil was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Napoleon and also served on the Cakota Township Board. Emil became a resident of the Napoleon Care Center in 2009.

Emil died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. He was 79 years old.

Emil is survived by three sons, Keith (Sheila) Dewald, Napoleon, ND; Jeff (Janet) Dewald, Napoleon, ND and Darwin (Debra) Dewald, Bismarck, ND; nine grandchildren, Justin Dewald, Jordan Dewald, Jayden Dewald, Jacey Dewald, Brandon Fettig, Sheldon Dewald, Sheridon Dewald, Dillion Dewald and Dalton Dewald; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert (Ramona) Dewald, Napoleon, ND; two sisters, Lorraine (Hilmer) Kienzle, Big Fork, MT and Diane (Larry) Lang, Underwood, ND; one brother-in-law, Morris Sukut, Billings, MT; one sister-in-law, Arlene Dewald, Dawson, ND.
