The funeral for Elsie Draeger, Napoleon, ND will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Zion Reformed Cemetery, rural Streeter, ND.

Elsie Spitzer, daughter of Ludwig and Emma (Dammel) Spitzer was born January 17, 1925 rural Napoleon, ND. She grew up and graduated from Napoleon High School and then moved to Bismarck, ND where she worked for a Publishing Company. Elsie married Dwain Draeger August 15, 1947 at Napoleon, ND. They lived in Bismarck until 1955, moving to Napoleon where they eventually owned and operated Draeger Furniture and the D & E Variety Store. In the early 70's they opened a family restaurant, the Big D at Lake Isabel. Elsie enjoyed working at the Big D and helped out well into her 80's. Elsie and her husband, Dwain wintered in Las Vegas for many years. Elsie was an adventureous soul, driving and flying alone to various adventures. They loved to travel, traveling extensively in Europe and Russia. Dwain passed away November 29, 1996.


Elsie died peacefully Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. She was 88 years old.

Elsie is survived by three sons, Keith (Luella) Draeger, Dawson, ND; Darrell Draeger, Sierra Vista, AZ and Terry (Jody) Draeger, Anchorage, AK; 4 grandchildren, Megen, TerriLynn, David and Shanna; three great-grandchildren, Jamie, Joey and Jackson; two brothers, Berthold (Evangeline) Spitzer, Napoleon, ND and Selmer (Phyllis) Spitzer, Dawson, ND.
