Ellen Opp's Obituary
The funeral service for Ellen Opp, 88, Lehr, ND will be Monday, April 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Lehr Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lehr, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery, rural Streeter, ND.
Ellen Miller was the fifth of eight children, born August 21, 1921, at home near Streeter North Dakota, to John H. and Rosina Miller. She grew up on the family farm near Streeter and received her education at a rural country school near the family home.
Ellen was united in marriage to Herbert Opp on June 27, 1950 in the Streeter Seventh Day Adventist Church. The couple resided on the Opp family homestead near Hazelton, North Dakota where they farmed for three years. Then moving to Lehr in 1953, they purchased the Reiswig farm one-half mile North West of Lehr. Ellen worked in the home where she enjoyed tending to the needs of her family. Herbert preceded her in death on December 14, 1995. Ellen moved to a small apartment in Lehr the winter of 1997. She enjoyed her little apartment very much and she enjoyed the friendship of all her wonderful neighbors.
Ellen was devoted to her faith and was a member of the Lehr Seventh Day Adventist Church and very active in serving as teacher in children's divisions, deaconess, and dorcas society.
Ellen passed away with her family by her side Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Wishek Home for the aged, Wishek, ND. She was 88 years old.
Ellen is survived by her three children, Maxine McDaniel, Loveland CO; Larnie ( Janet) Opp, Walla Walla, WA; Patty ( Robin) Marsh, Colville WA; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby ( Art) Werth, Lehr, ND; three brothers, Harold ( Emma) Miller, Vancouver, WA; Walter Miller, Wishek ND; Jehu ( Delores) Miller, Streeter, ND and many nieces & nephews.
