Obituary

The memorial service for Eleanor (Ella) Wentz will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, ND with Pastor Susan Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Prayer services at 7:00 PM.
Eleanor (Ella) Lang was born December 19, 1924, the daughter of Samuel and Emelia (Eslinger) Lang. She grew up and attended school in the Napoleon area. On October 28, 1945, she was married to Raymond Wentz in the Lutheran Church in Napoleon, ND. They made their home south of Napoleon where they farmed and ranched. Ray passed away in September of 1974. Ella moved to Bismarck in the Fall of 1978 where she resided until she entered the Napoleon Care Center in March of 2014.
In Napoleon, Ella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Sunshine Homemakers Group. While living in Bismarck she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing Bunco. Ella was proud to be an Avon Representative for 30 years while she lived in Bismarck. Ella thoroughly enjoyed being a Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time and playing with them. Ella was a great cook and baker. She taught her granddaughters many of her recipes and how to make her famous German foods such as dumplings, knoephla, cheese buttons, funeral hotdish, rhubarb strawberry jelly and many others.
Ella died peacefully July 20, 2014 at the Napoleon Care Center. She was 89 years old.
Grateful to have shared her life are her two sons, Lonnie (Carol) Wentz, Napoleon, ND and Lyndon (Marcia Kautz) Wentz, Gillette, WY; her 4 granddaughters, Nicki (Rashad) Schaffner, Darci (Michael) Mittleider, Amanda (Chad Richey) Wentz, and Correen Wentz; her 7 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Tristan and Breckan Schaffner, Lillian, Mia and Maci Mittleider, and Holden Richey; her brother Marvin (Jean) Lang; sister-in-law Sally Lang; and several nieces and nephews. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wentz; her parents, Samuel and Emelia Lang; her brothers Albert, Rueben, Ervin and Elmer Lang; and sisters-in-law, Leona and Esther Lang.
