The memorial service for Eileen Janell Geiszler, Napoleon, ND will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:30 AM. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Burial be at The North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND at 2:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2016.
Eileen Janell Schlenker, daughter of George and Emma (Fode) Schlenker was born February 6, 1926 at Alfred, ND. She received her grade school education in Alfred and high school education in Gackle, ND where she graduated in 1943. Eileen began working in the A.S.C.S office in LaMoure, ND after graduation until the spring of 1944. She then moved to Beaverton, OR where she worked for the Safeway corporate office until 1945. Eileen returned to North Dakota working in Fargo until 1946. Eileen married Erwin Geiszler on February 23, 1947 in Gackle, ND where they lived until 1958 when Erwin was appointed Logan County Treasurer, facilitating their move to Napoleon. Eileen worked as a bookkeeper for the Napoleon Sales Barn for 17 years and part time at the Red Owl grocery store until 1972 when she was appointed City Auditor until her retirement in 1989. Eileen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Napoleon Golf Club. Eileen enjoyed her Wednesday and Saturday coffee get-togethers with her friends and her occasional bus trip to the casino with her friends. In her earlier years, Eileen was an avid bowler, belonging to a league and also enjoyed golfing. Throughout her life Eileen was known for her excellent cooking and baking skills. She loved baking kuchen, caramel rolls, pies, buns or whatever and then giving it away to her friends and neighbors. Eileen celebrated her 90 birthday in February of this year with an Open House at the Assisted Living Center where she resided. She was overjoyed at the number of friends and family who came to celebrate her birthday with her.
Eileen was admitted to the Napoleon Care Center on June 3, 2016 and died June 11, 2016. She was 90 years old.
Eileen is survived by her three children, Gary (Ann) Geiszler, Jamestown, ND; Gloria (Dave) Magdefrau, Henderson, NV and Kristie (Tony) Sadowsky, Beulah, ND; grandchildren, Amy (Joel) Habedank, Julie (Ryan) Heuchert, Grant (Jen) Geiszler, Scott (Diana) Geiszler, Jessica Magdefrau, Coery (Evo) sasdowsky, Cameron Sadowsky and 9 great-grandchildren. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Erwin in 2012, her parents, George and Emma, sisters-in-law, Mabel, Lenora, Leontina and Myrtle and 4 brothers-in-law, Art, Edgar, Albert and Reuben and daughter-in-law, Barbara.
