Edwin Deyle, 89, Wishek, ND peacefully passed away on February 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at the Wishek Community Hospital.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND.  Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5 ^th from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek.  Burial will be held at St. Luke Cemetery, Wishek.  A Livestream of Edwin's Funeral Service will be available on the Dahlstrom Funeral Service Facebook page.  The family respectfully requests that all those in attendance wear a mask and observe COVID- 19 safety precautions.

Edwin was born on October 11, 1931 to Henry and Olga (Ketterling) Deyle.  He grew up on the family farm and attended Salem Country School until the 8 ^th grade.  He attended 1 year of high school at Wishek High School, then decided to stay home to work on the farm with his father.  Edwin loved to play softball and was a pitcher on the Wishek amateur team.

On November 6, 1955, Edwin married the love of his life, EldaVera Stroh, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek.  Shortly after their marriage, Edwin was drafted into the Army.  He served from 1957-1963, including a deployment to Germany in 1958.  Edwin had very fond memories of his time in the service and enjoyed having reunions with his Army friends.

Edwin and EldaVera moved to the Deyle homestead in the fall of 1960.  There they raised 4 children, Jerome, LeMars, Jayson, and Joycelyn.  The family raised dairy cattle and spent countless hours in their dairy barn.  Edwin was the true definition of a farmer, with a love of animals and the land close to his heart.  He would go out of his way to make sure all the animals on his farm were healthy and well cared for, from the smallest kitten to the biggest bull.

After Edwin and EldaVera retired from dairy farming in 1998, Edwin had time to pursue some other passions in his life.  Singing in the St. Luke Church Choir, Men's Chorus, and German Chorus gave him the opportunity to express his faith.  Edwin also enjoyed the many hours he spent at the Wishek Senior Center and playing pinochle with all his friends and family.

Edwin's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  There was nothing he treasured more than holding a newborn and hearing the laughter of children running around.  Edwin passed many important lessons and values on to his family.  One of the most important lessons he taught was to always have room for dessert.

Edwin will be missed greatly by his wife of 65 years, EldaVera; children, Jerome (Janine) Deyle, of St. Cloud, MN, LeMars (Annette) Deyle, West Fargo, ND, Jayson (Kim) Deyle, Bismarck, ND, and Joyce (Marc) Johnson, Wahpeton, ND; grandchildren, Eric (April), Pat (Malloree), Elizabeth (Greg), Rachel, Michael (Sarah), Rebecca, Sara, Samantha (Mike), Alex (Kristen), Nicholas (Sara), and Brianna (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Hanna, Carson, Gavin, Carter, Zoee, Coraline, Josie, Audrey, Amelia, Bennett, Dean, Clara, Veda, Mae, and Holland; sisters, Gladys Flink and Olivia Lake; brother, Henry Deyle; sisters-in-law, Priscilla Stroh and Eileen Deyle; several nieces and nephews, and all of his neighbors and friends.

Edwin was greeted in heaven by his parents, Henry and Olga; in-laws, Jacob and Louise; brothers, Roger, and Emmanuel; sister, Wilma; brothers-in-law, Norman, LeRoy, Lawrence (Shorty), August, Gary, Fred, and Virgil; sisters-in-law, Ramona, Delphine, Shirley, and Lavina; nephew, LeRoy Jr. (Rusty); and nieces, Tammie and Debra
