Obituary

Edna Anna Meidinger passed away peacefully surrounded by family January 21 st, 2020 at the Wishek Living Center. She was 81 years old.

Edna was born on January 5 th , 1939 in rural McIntosh County  to Albert J. Kaseman and Anna Marie Martel Kaseman. She grew up on a farm near Venturia ND with her 8 siblings. She married Gerhardt Meidinger December 16 th , 1956. They soon started a family of their own and took over the family farm north of Zeeland  in 1967. Between raising 5 children and helping on the farm, Edna's hands were rarely still. She loved to garden and preserve, sew,  cook, clean and paint. Edna was known for her Kneophla soup, cinnamon strudels, sour pickles and her pies, all homemade of course.  She crocheted and quilted countless afghans and blankets for residents at the Wishek Living Center.  This suited her servant heart. Many of her handmade afghans, quilts and embroidered dishtowels are now precious keepsakes her family will continue to use for years to come. She passed on her talents by teaching her granddaughters and great granddaughter to sew, crotchet and embroider. She served in her church for decades, actively working in many ministry efforts. She was a very giving and gracious person who thought of others before herself which was a testimony to her strong faith and belief in Jesus.

Edna treasured her friends and family. Whether she was taking trips with her sisters, entertaining her group of lady friends with food and games or hosting LARGE meals at her house for her family, she was most happy being surrounded by those she loved. Most of all, she cherished her role as a grandma and great grandma. She had a kind and compassionate spirit and if you knew Edna before her illness, you know she was one of the strongest, most vibrant 80-year olds you ever met. Please, always remember her that way.
