Edna Goebel's Obituary
The funeral for Edna Goebel, Wishek, North Dakota will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Zion United Methodist Church at Lehr, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday from Noon to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the Lehr City Cemetery, Lehr, ND.
Edna Lehr daughter of Andrew and Eva (Aman) Lehr was born January 26, 1910 on the family farm south of Lehr, ND. Edna grew up south of Lehr on the family farm and received her education at the Lehr Public School, Lehr, ND. Edna lived at home until her marriage to Albert Goebel on November 14, 1929 at Lehr, ND. Following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Lehr for a short time, they later moved to the Lehr family farm for 7 years. Edna and Albert purchased the Goebel family farm south of Lehr, ND. They lived and farmed there until 1970 when they retired and moved into Lehr. Edna worked at Grenz General Store in Lehr for several years. Albert died on December 2, 1994. Edna continued to live in Lehr until the spring of 1996 when she moved to Wishek, ND. Edna will be remembered for her love of cooking and baking. She also took pride in the fact that her grandfather donated the property that is known as the city of Lehr, ND. Edna attributes her longevity to hauling bales, milking cows and many farm chores.
Edna died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Medcenter One in Bismarck, ND. She was 100 years old.
Edna is survived by two daughters, LaVon (Clarence) Schaffer, Fargo, ND, and Diane (Harvey) Schilling, Bismarck, ND; 5 grandchildren, Rodney Schaffer, Fargo, ND, Shari (Steve) Bettenhausen, Fargo, ND, Dawn Bolstad, Craig, CO, Cary Schilling, Edina, MN and Annette Schilling, Bismarck, ND; 5 great grandchildren, Ashley & Amber Schaffer, Cory & Page Bettenhausen and Samuel Schilling.
