Dorothy Bitz, 96, died October 24, 2016, in the Napoleon Care Center surround by family. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND. Interment will be at St Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon, ND.
Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND.
Dorothy was one of ten children born to John and Magdelena (Wald) Bitz on May 27, 1920 on the family farmstead near Napoleon. She grew up and attended school in rural Napoleon. Dorothy worked at a restaurant and cared for her parents until their deaths in Napoleon. In 1967, after the passing of her parents, she moved to Bismarck. She continued restaurant and domestic work until her retirement. Dorothy lived with her sister, Margaret Marquart, for many years after the death of Margaret's husband, Peter. She returned to the Napoleon Care Center in January of 2016.
Dorothy is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Louise Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Joseph (Margaret) Bitz, Adam (Mary) Bitz, John (Mary) Bitz, Al (Ruth) Bitz, Valentine (Helen) Bitz, and Roy Bitz.
