The funeral for Diana I. Dewald, Napoleon, ND will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from noon to 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon city cemetery.

Diana Mertz daughter of Rudolf and Lydia (Rau) Mertz was born March 31, 1937 in Cakota Township, Logan County northeast of Napoleon, ND. She attended rural school in Cakota Township and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1955. After graduation she spent the summer on her family farm and later work at the Schnabel Café in Napoleon. She also worked at the Logan County Superintendent's office. Diana was united in marriage to Emil Dewald November 16, 1956 at Napoleon, ND. They made their home on the Dewald family farm until September of 1957. They purchased her parent's farm where they made their home until the time of her death. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Family was special to her and she love to spent time with them and their activates. She also enjoyed sewing, German cooking, baking, making crafts and she loved to go to polka dances.


Diana died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her home. She was 73 years old.

Diana is survived by her husband, Emil Dewald, Napoleon, ND; three sons, Keith (Sheila) Dewald, Napoleon, ND, Jeff (Janet) Dewald, Napoleon, ND, Darwin (Debra) Dewald, Bismarck, ND; nine grandchildren, Justin Dewald, Jordan Dewald, Jayden Dewald, Jacey Dewald, Brandon Fettig, Sheldon Dewald, Sheridon Dewald, Dillion Dewald, Dalton Dewald and two great-granddaughters, Riley Dewald and Brynlee Dewald; one sister, Viona Morlock, West Fargo, ND; She preceded by her parents, one sister.
