Obituary

Darvin E. Goebel, 84, of Wishek, ND, passed away December 7, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center, Bismarck, ND.  A private family service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 10 from 4-7pm at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND.

Darvin was born August 22, 1936 to Philip and Deloris (Schlecht) Goebel. He grew up in the Lehr, ND area. He married Elizabeth Moser on December 9, 1956 at Lehr, ND.

After Darvin and Betty got married they moved to Fargo where he worked with interstate construction as a truck driver.  After his dad passed away they moved back to the farm where they stayed until his retirement from farming.  He farmed and raised their family there.  Darvin and Betty moved to Wishek in December of 1990.  He worked for Phillip Martell until his retirement from there.

Darvin enjoyed the dairy and agriculture industry.  In his past time he enjoyed playing cards, checkers, coloring, and collecting antiques.  He was very good at checkers and hard to beat.  He loved being with Lily, his dog, she went with him wherever he went.

In the last few years Darvin came to know and receive the knowledge of Jesus Christ in his life.  He enjoyed listening to Gospel music, being read to from the Holy Bible and being prayed for and praying himself.

Darvin is survived by his children Ronnie (fiancé Gail Voothroyd) Goebel, Wishek, Brenda (Sherry) Goebel, Wishek, Larry Goebel, Wishek, Kevin Goebel, South Carolina, Sandra (Joseph) Bailey, Moorhead, MN, Brian Goebel, Wishek, Dwight (Shelia) Goebel, Wishek; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; brother Gary (Debbie) Goebel, Wishek; sisters Shirley (Larry) Raile, Piedmont, SD, Ruby Stevahn, Jamestown, Lyla Kaseman, Bismarck, Sharon Wohl, Fargo, Linda Jung, Fargo; son-in-law, Shawn Bruna, Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth; 2 daughters, Valarie Diede and Twila Bruna; 3 brothers, Clayton, Alden, and Clifford; 1 sister, Arva Della Stoebner; and 2 grandchildren, Jessica Goebel and Mitchell Diede.
