The funeral service for Darlene Ulmer, 78, of Wishek, ND, will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church, 101 8 ^th St., Wishek, ND with Pastor Gordon Bakan officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, 15 S. 5 ^th St., Wishek, ND. Burial will be held at Eureka City Cemetery, Eureka, SD

Darlene, daughter of Herbert J. and Rose Hoffman (Morlock), was born 15 miles east of Eureka, SD McPherson County Long Lake township at her parent's farm on January 27, 1941.  Her father, Herbert, died in 1969 and her mother, Rose, died in 2014. She attended county school with her Aunt LouElla (Hoffman) Opp as her first-grade teacher.  In 1948, she moved with her parents to the Hoffman homestead four miles west of Long Lake, SD where she attended country school Bergdorf #3 through the eighth grade, she attended Eureka High School.  Darlene enjoyed being outdoors and loved being around all the farm animals and going to the fields with her parents.  Darlene was baptized on New Year's Eve 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Eureka by the Rev. Albert Krombein. She faithfully attended Sunday school, sang in the choir, attended Bible school and Bible camp and in the summer would go to Ashley, ND to Bible school where she would stay with her paternal grandparents.

Darlene married Clifford Werre and they had two children, Sheila Ann, and Scott Kevin Werre.

April 5, 1969 she was united in marriage to Clarence Ulmer and one son, Dean Allen was born to that unity.  Darlene worked alongside her husband on the farm; she enjoyed gardening and raising chickens along with the many other animals that were raised on the farm through the years, after moving to Wishek she worked at L & L Café and Wishek Motel, she enjoyed embroidering and reading. She was a member of the Wishek Baptist Church and an active member of the Ladies Fellowship.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Darlene died March 27, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Hospital in Bismarck, ND. She was 78 years old.

Blessed to have shared her life are her three children, Sheila Mulder of Wessington Springs, SD, Scott (Collette) Werre of Brookings, SD, and Dean (Echolyn) Ulmer of Wishek, ND; seven grandchildren, Christopher Mulder, Eureka, Cassandra Mulder, Wessington Springs, Eric Werre, Bruce, SD, Tyler (Jamie)Werre, Brookings, SD, Reagan, Ebony and Grady Ulmer, Wishek; five great-grandchildren, Savannah Mulder, Haeleigh Mulder, Milo Werre, Rylee Werre, and Easton Werre.  One sister, Marvalou (Jerry) Dais, Eureka.

Darlene was preceded in death by both husbands and her parents.
