Denvy Malm, son of Gust and Alma (Holmquist) was born December 17, 1919 in Swede Township, north of Kulm, ND. Denvy grew up and graduated from Kulm High school in 1938 and worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA until he was drafted into the Army in March of 1942. He served in George Patton's Third Army in Europe. He served his country from July 1944 until September 5, 1945. After his discharge from the Army, he farmed in Swede and Raney Township until his retirement in 1982. He married LeNora Larson, also of the Kulm area, on September 16, 1945 at Kulm, ND. They both were baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Kulm on March 22, 1953 and have been lifelong members there. Denvy served as Sunday School Superintendant and Trustee for many years. Since retirement Denvy and LeNora spent their winters in Apache Junction, AZ, visiting their daughters often in Virginia and Minnesota. Denvy was a man of faith and integrity, respected in the community and very dear to his family.


Denvy died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND. He was 90 years old.

Denvy is survived by his wife of 65 years, LeNora, Kulm, ND; two daughters, Laura (James) Nejfelt, Manassas, VA; Julie Honsa, Mahtomedi, MN; four grandchildren, Daniel Nejfelt, Eric and Rita Nejfelt, Jonathan Honsa and Ellen Honsa.
