Obituary

Dan Hahne, 59, of Lehr, ND, passed away July 30, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wishek. Burial will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Strasburg.  A livestream of Dan's funeral will be available on the funeral home website under his obituary.

Dan was born March 11, 1963 to Donald & Jolene (Kraft) Hahne in Eureka, SD. He started school in Bath, SD before moving to Milwaukee, and later finishing his education in Lehr, where his family lived on the farm & milked cows. In 1986 Dan purchased the farm & continued milking until November of 1993. On May 26, 1990 Dan married Julie Wentz in St Patrick's Church, Wishek, ND. Together they had two daughters, Jessica (1991) & Courtney (1993). Once he was no longer milking, Dan started working at the Fredonia Oil Company in 1994 and was there until 2014. He loved to visit with everyone who came in. He also spent a couple years working at Fargo Assembly in Lehr, before his hands & health wouldn't let him continue. Dan was silently fighting a lot of medical health issues these last few years. May we find comfort in the fact that he now has a heart & lungs to let him do all the things he loved most, and was missing so much, while he's up there looking over us.

Dan loved his daughters & his horses. You could find him in the barn at all hours of the night either working with a young horse or just sitting on a bucket watching them eat some grain. He was always so proud of the colts he'd raised.  Once his grandkids came along, all his pride & joy moved into them. He loved to see them and hear about the new things they'd learned. Grandpa Dan called his grandkids almost everyday just to check in on them.  He is already so greatly missed.

Dan is survived by his parents Donald & Jolene Hahne; Daughters Jessica (Troy) Brown, Montpelier and Courtney (Phil Vetsch) Hahne, Venturia; Grandchildren Jayden & Emily Brown, and Hemi, Hudson, & Chevelle Vetsch; Sister Tammy (Jeff) Wanner, Kindred; Brother Randy (Norma) Hahne, Lehr; and his nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Jacob & Elizabeth Hahne and Sylvester & Frances Kraft; along with many uncles, aunts, & cousins.
