Curtis Lyle
Rudolf
Nov 3, 1951 — Mar 13, 2023
Curtis Lyle Rudolf, 71, of Mandan, ND, formerly of Wishek, passed away on March 13, 2023 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek. Burial will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek. A livestream of Curtis's funeral service will be available on the St. Luke Lutheran - Wishek Youtube page.
Curt was born November 3, 1951, in Bismarck, ND. He was the son of Paul Edwin Rudolf and Irene (Heupel) Rudolf of rural McIntosh County. He grew up on the farm attending Wishek Public School where he graduated from Wishek High School in 1969.
Curt always said he "bummed" around the country trying different jobs in several different states. In 1973 he came home to Wishek, ND, and went to work for NDDOT. Curt found his life's work at DOT, retiring in 2008, after 35 years and becoming Lead Man of the Wishek division.
On December 13, 1996, Curt married his best friend, Beth. Curt and Beth lived 6 months of the year in Wishek, and 6 months at their cabin at Green Lake, where they loved to entertain family and friends. Curt's favorite time was when family would gather every summer at Green Lake for an extended "Lake" reunion. It was fairly common for two weeks every summer for 30-40 people to be fishing, boating, swimming and playing pinochle at Curt's "table". He especially enjoyed taking grandchildren out on his pontoon.
Curt was an avid fisherman, bowler and pinochle player. The highlight of his years of bowling was attending the National Bowling Tournament at Reno, NV, in 1995.
Curt is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter, Mindy (Andy) Wachter, Burnsville, MN; stepdaughter, Amanda (Pete) Carlson, Bozeman, MT; stepson, Kyle (Luanne) Krein, Devils Lake, ND; sister, Lois Humann (Jon Lindberg), Jamestown, ND; sister-in-law, Nancy (Tom) Sperling, Mandan, ND; brother-in-law, Paul (Tammie) Reiland, Mitchell, SD; and sister-in-law, Elaine Reiland, Hernando, FL; grandchildren, Riker and Haddie Wachter and the grandchildren of his heart, Tommy Hynes, Hershey PA, Kate Hynes, Bensalem PA, Kirsten Krein Scott (Mike) Woodbury, MN, Kaylin Krein Johnston (Adam), Devils Lake, ND; and great grandson, Alex Scott, Woodbury, MN.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father Paul Rudolf; mother and stepfather, Irene and Danny Just; brother, Dennis Rudolf; stepson, Bill Reed; brothers-in-law, Gordie Humann and John Reiland; mother and father in law, Joyce and Melvin Schauer.
I will always miss his "Hey, How Ya Doin."
