The funeral for Christina P. Rath, Wishek, ND will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.


Christina Philippine Foerderer daughter of David and Christina (Sayler) Foerderer was born April 19, 1914 in McIntosh County. She was baptized August 16, 1914 and confirmed June 16, 1929 at Friedens (Peace) Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mc Intosh County. She grew up on her parent's farm and attended a rural country school. Christina married John W. Rath February 2, 1942. They farmed northwest of Wishek, ND until 1976, when they moved to Wishek. She has resided at Wishek since. Christina was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ladies Guild and the Circle of Ruth. She dearly enjoyed quilting at the Senior Citizen Center until her vision failed in later years. Christina's hobbies were crocheting, playing cards, listening to music and doing various crafts. She enjoyed visiting with friends and sharing stories. Christina was able to do some traveling to places such as Alaska, Florida, California, Minnesota and Wisconsin. She was known for her smile, laughter and wit. One of her favorite things on the farm was attending the small baby chicks.


Christina died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek, ND. She was 96 years old.

Christina is survived by three daughters, Verna (Cal) Rice, Hutchinson, MN; Judy (Larry) Kilbourn, Shawano, WI; Irene (Harry) Renschler, Bismarck, ND; three sons, Walter (Alma) Rath, Wishek, ND; Wilbert (Tillie) Rath, Wishek, ND; Oscar Rath, Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren, Tim Rice, Steve (Laura) Rice, both of Hutchinson, MN; Stacey (Mike) Bartz, Michele Malcomson, both of Green Bay, WI; Carmen Haegle, Andover, MN; Terry (Marsha) Rath, Wishek, ND; Robin (Rich) Mjoisness, Beresford, SD; Darcy (Scott) Miller, St. Cloud, MN; Korrie (Bruce) Slayter, Chicago, IL; Rick (Robin) Rath, Dallas, TX; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandboy. Christina was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Rath, six sisters, Helen Gaiser, Frieda Schauer, Alma Schatz, Pauline Schauer, Alvina Rath and Magdalene Rath; four brothers, Christian, Henry, Edward and David Foerderer.
