The funeral for Catherine (Katie) Fettig, 84, Napoleon, ND will be Thursday, December 1, 2011 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at 10:00 AM at Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Catherine Weigel, daughter of Michael and Margaret (Wangler) Weigel was born April 7, 1927 Kintyre, ND. She grew up and attended rural Weigel School #1 near St. Boniface rural Kintyre, ND. Katie married Bernard (Ben) Fettig November 4, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. They lived with her mother until the fall of 1948 when they purchased a farm north of Tappen, ND. Katie was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Christian Mothers Society. Katie always wanted to be a teacher and volunteered to be a religion teacher for many years in Tappen. She enjoyed working on the farm. They retired to Napoleon in December of 1990 where she continued to enjoy vegetable and flower gardening. Katie was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church after moving to Napoleon, ND. Katie entered the Napoleon Care Center in August of 2002 and was a resident of the Center at the time of her death.


Katie passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. She was 84 years old.

Katie is survived by her husband Ben of 65 years, Napoleon, ND; ten children, Alois (Mary) Fettig, Burnsville, MN; Steven (Carla) Fettig, Bismarck, ND; Jeffrey (Bonnie) Fettig,Tappen, ND; Tommy Fettig, Lincoln, ND; Marvin (Berdina) Bismarck, ND; Margaret (Larry) Doyle, Valley City, ND; Mary (Gene) Hartl, New Rockford, ND; Eileen (Doug) Knutson, West Fargo, ND; Diana (Allen) Guthmiller, Bismarck, ND; Karri (Bryan) Stroh, Tappen, ND; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Math) Gross, Napoleon, ND; Magdalena (Joe) Fettig, Napoleon, ND; one brother, Bernhard (Katie) Weigel, Napoleon, ND; one sister-in-law, Mary Weigel, Napoleon. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Sara Catherine Fettig, one sister, Anna Mary Piatz and three brothers, Anthony, Baltzer and Aloysius.
