The funeral for Barbara Gross, Napoleon, ND will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, ND.  Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.

Barbara Weigel, daughter of Michael and Margaret (Wangler) Weigel was born October 16, 1924.  She grew up and attended rural school near St. Boniface rural Kintyre, ND. When Barbara's father became ill, she helped her brothers farm up to the time of her marriage. She married Math J. Gross on October 29, 1945 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Math and Barbara farmed northeast of Napoleon.  They continued to farm until they built their retirement home in Napoleon in 1979.

Barbara loved the farm life and all that came with it. She had a strong faith which was demonstrated through her devotion to the rosary and her love for attending mass. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Farmers Union, the Golden Age Club and the Germans from Russia Heritage Society.  Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, quilting, embroidering, playing pinochle, gardening and growing flowers.  She loved to cook and was always willing to cook a meal for visitors.  She had a love for people and a great sense of humor.  Barbara and Math enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and made a trip to the Holy Land and Rome in 1975. Barbara entered the Napoleon Care Center in September of 2010.

Barbara passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Napoleon Care Center due to Alzheimer's disease. She was 94 years old.

Barbara is survived by her loving and caring husband of 74 years, Math who spent endless hours at her bedside during her time at the Napoleon Care Center; two sons and two daughters, Jeff (Connie) Gross, Linton, ND, Teresa Gross, Bismarck, ND, Gerald M. Gross, Minneapolis, MN and Barb Gross, Bismarck, ND; three grandchildren, Matt (Michelle) Gross, New Richmond, WI, Katie (Josh) Wangler and Taunia Welch, Bismarck, ND; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Magdalena (Joe) Fettig, Napoleon, ND; one sister-in-law, Mary Weigel, Napoleon, ND. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Dallas Gross, her parents, Michael and Margaret, two sisters, Anna Mary Piatz, Catherine Fettig and four brothers, Anthony, Baltzer, Aloysius and Bernard.   Share memories and sign online guest book at www.dahlstromfuneralservice.com.
