Obituary

Arlene Klundt Rohrback, 88, of Bismarck, formally of Wishek, ND, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2022 at the Wishek Living Center after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Faith Community Church, Wishek. Burial will be held at the Wishek City Cemetery.

Arlene was born on July 20, 1934 north of Medina in Stutsman County, ND to Herman & Christina (Heupel) Klundt, the 8 th of 10 children. On February 15 th , 1954, Arlene married John (Jim) Klundt. They moved to Wishek, ND and together they had 4 sons: Steve, Jeff, Bob & John Jr. While living in Wishek they started 3 businesses: Stan'& Jim's Red Owl, Gambles & Jim's Home Decorating. In 1989 Arlene, Jim & John Jr. relocated to Atwater, California until Jim's passing in 1994. Several years later she married Richard (Dick) Rohrback 2000-2009.   Arlene had the time of her life with Dick traveling the world and entertaining family & friends.

Arlene loved cooking, reading, conversing with anyone, Wednesday morning coffee talk with her best girlfriends - aka the Velcro Girls. She also loved traveling, time spent with her family over a game of pinochle or a bowl of her homemade chicken noodle soup. Summer weekends were spent with friends on the bus and pontoon at Green Lake and winter weekends in their dining room playing cards, smoking cigarettes, drinking beer, and firing up the grill until wee hours of the morning.  Arlene loved spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids and valued her vacation time with the Velcro Girls. Arlene was always thinking of others; her family, her friends and the neighborhood kids and friends of the boys and often took on the role of a second mom to many.

Arlene had a great sense of humor. A lovely sense of style and simply knew how to live and did so by living life to the fullest.

Arlene is survived by two sons, Jeff and John Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kim (Scott); grandson, Taylor (Kathryn); granddaughter, Katie; great-grandsons, Oliver & Aiden; two stepsons, Rick (Celeste) & Randy; her sister, Virginia and brother Walter (Mary).

She was preceded in death by her first husband Jim, her sons Steve & Bob, her second husband Dick, parents and 7 siblings.
