The celebration of life for Arlena Hauck will be held Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek, ND with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating.
Arlena Sayler daughter of Edward & Christina (Weisser) Sayler was born August 20, 1938 in Wishek, North Dakota. She attended a country school and helped on the family farm. After being on the family farm, she lived and worked in Bismarck until she married Leo Hauck on September 23, 1961. They lived in Wimbledon, ND and farmed nine miles south of Wishek before beginning their long career of grain and dairy farming north of Wishek. They were granted numerous dairy awards across 18 years of dairy farming. Following their retirement from dairy farming in 2002, she worked in the Wishek Nursing Home as a dietary aide. In 2003, they moved to Wishek where Arlena continued to keep active. Arlena was an active member in the Morning Side Homemakers during her younger years. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends and family, and cooking. Arlena was a talented seamstress, crocheter, and rug weaver. Following her retirement from the farm, she became active in volunteer work at the Wishek Senior Center, the local food pantry and St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She shared her quilting talents with Kovers for Kids and crocheting and quilting blankets for her grandchildren and family.
Arlena lost her life after short battle with cancer on January 17, 2014 at the Wishek Community Hospital. She was 75 years old.
Arlena is lovingly remembered by her husband Leo of 52 years, daughter Robin (Mike) Quinn of Ririe, ID; son Randall (Daphne) Hauck of Bismarck, ND; son Ritchie (Terri) Hauck of Richlands, NC; son Dennis Hauck of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Rachel (Bruce) Johnson of Tallahasse, FL; grandchildren Justene Schlenker of Vancouver WA; Kelsey Schlenker of Idaho Falls, ID; Derek (Morgan) Hauck, Menoken, ND; Danielle Hauck and Nathan Hauck of Bismarck, ND; Kendall Hauck of Raleigh, NC; Azula Johnson of Tallahassee, FL and great-grandchildren Jaydon Schlenker of Idaho Falls, ID and Brynna Hauck of Menoken ND; four brothers Victor (Deanne) Sayler, Apple Valley, MN; Daniel (Marlys) Sayler, Herman (Alvina) Sayler, Albert (Betty) Sayler, all of Wishek; three sisters Edna Wiest, Landina (Wilbert) Meidinger all of Wishek and Christina (Dennis) Witt of Jamestown, ND. Arlena is preceded by her parents Edward and Christina; five brothers John, Jacob, Reinhold, Edward and Ludwig; three sisters, Irene Just, Clara Thurn and Eva Just; and four brother's in-law Fred Thurn, Herbert Just, Gayhart Just, and Ferdinand Wiest.
