Anna Irene (Hauff) Entzie daughter of John and Bertha (Fregien) Hauff was born near midnight on a warm Easter Monday, April 1, 1929 on the family farm in Hoffnungsthal Township in McIntosh County.  She grew up on the family farm along with three brothers and one sister on land that was homesteaded by her father's uncle, Johann Pokert.  In her early years she attended Gnodenfeld Congregational Church with her family which is located 10 miles SE of Kulm, ND. The land for this church was donated by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fregien.  In 1946 she moved with her parents to Fredonia when her oldest brother took over the family farm. She attended high school in Kulm and graduated with the class of '48.  That same fall after attending summer school at UND in Grand Forks she started her first teaching job at Haag School District #4 NE of Fredonia.  The following summer she attended the State Teachers College in Valley City earning a 2 year Teachers Certificate.  In September of 1949 she started her second year of teaching at Hoffnungsthal School District #2.  At that time, she boarded with the Jacob Entzie Jr family where she met her future husband Edwin. They were married June 18, 1950 at Nazareth Congregational Church. They then moved to the Henry Seefried farmstead just west of Miller Lake. This farmstead was located under 5 miles from her place of birth. She especially enjoyed working on the farm and taking care of all the baby animals each spring when life was renewed.   One of her greatest joys was her treasured garden and preserving its bounty.  One of many highlights was when her grandchildren stopped by and she could serve them Pumpkin Blatchinda,  Kuechla and fresh baked bread and homemade jelly.  After retirement she did some traveling with her husband, Edwin to the west coast and south to Texas.  They were members of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lehr where she was the Treasurer for years. She also joined the Women's Missionary Society and served as secretary for the group. After Edwins death she continued traveling thru mystery tours with her lady friends.  She always looked forward to these trips. She was able to and appreciated her ability to stay on the family farm until she entered the Wishek Living Center due to ill health on October 31, 2017.  Her family will always remember her for the family historian she always was.  Her memories of years gone by will truly be treasured by all of us.

Anna died Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND.  She was 88 years old.  Anna is at peace and reunited with her husband, grandson, parents, brothers and sister for eternity.

Anna is survived by her three children, Alyce (Eric) Woodard, Lehr, ND; Verna (Dennis) McCallun, Bismarck, ND and Allen (Marcy) Entzie, Lehr, ND; five grandchildren, Alex, Carl, Thea and Jacob Entzie and Megan McCallum; one great grandson, William Hopkins and three sisters-in-law, Hazel Hauff, Belle Herman and Alma Tafil.   Anna is preceded in death by her husband Edwin, grandson, Billy Hopkins; three brothers, Art, Wilbert and Dave Hauff; one sister, Ruth Harstad and her loving parents.
